SWISS EPIC 17-21 August 2020 – Graubünden
The Swiss Epic 2020 is the European leg of the Epic Series, which also includes the Cape Epic, proudly showcasing the best of the world-class trails of Graubünden. From purpose-built mountain bike singletracks to rugged nature trails through high mountain ridges; the path challenges and rewards during the five stages. Visit the spectacular host cities of Laax, Arosa and Davos; the route includes 320 kilometers of track, of which 12250 meters in altitude. In true Swiss Epic fashion, what goes up surely goes down, including many of Switzerland’s most famous trails.
Excellent performances for the Valtellinesi brothers Lorenzo and Nicolas Samparisi of the KTM DAMA SELLE SMP XCM PRO TEAM, who grabbed three results in the Top15, in a race won by the couple with the World Champion Schurter as captain. The duo riders closed in crescendo, collecting a 13th, an 11th and an excellent tenth in the final stage. Placements that earned him the final nineteenth place, a place that does not do justice to the level shown.
Mechanical problems for our duet.
The SampaBros had to immediately abandon their dreams of the general classification, thanks to the mechanical failure that made them lose almost 75 minutes during the first stage.
“A pity not to have been able to play for the overall TOP10, but we closed in crescendo and the desire to win is now even stronger” — Lorenzo reported.
“Fantastic landscapes, too bad there was no time to enjoy them given the crazy speeds with which we have always raced” — added Nicolas — “We are certainly a good couple, but we can still grow a lot”.

La squadra del KTM DAMA SELLE SMP XCM PRO TEAM non si ferma infatti finita la sfaticata della Swiss Epic, Lorenzo doveva andare in scena alla Mtb Kronplatz Marathon il 30 agosto. L’unica gara marathon in mountain bike con oltre otto km di adrenaliniche discese freeride, 9km di divertenti single trail e arrivo finale in vetta a 2275m nelle Dolomiti. Ma il weekend con le condizioni meteo estreme e pericolo di smottamenti hanno annullato l’evento.
The KTM DAMA SELLE SMP XCM PRO TEAM does not stop, in fact, once the lazy Swiss Epic ended, Lorenzo had to go on stage at the Mtb Kronplatz Marathon on August 30th. The only mountain bike marathon race with over 8 km of adrenaline-pumping freeride descents, 9 km of fun single trails and final arrival at the summit at 2,275 m in the Dolomites. But the weekend with extreme weather conditions and danger of landslides canceled the event. Nicolas Samparisi together with his teammate Gaia lined up in duo at the start of the Bardolino Bike on Lake Garda ready to fight for the victory. A competition of the highest level. Immediately the orange-white riders take command of the situation and at the second GPM they are both in the lead.
Then the void, no one passes downhill, several runners arrive but not those in the lead. It will be discovered, only shortly after, that the forerunner has made a mistake in the route taking the top riders out of the fight for the victory. Taking note of the mistake, the final classification was drawn up on the first passage to the GPM. Second Gaia and fifth Nicolas.
Nicolas: “I could have collected more, a podium was plausible, so much so that we were only four riders at the track error. Anyway now let’s think about the next one ”.
September at the start of La Moselice in Rosa Mtb
On 6 September the full Bike Team will be at the starting line of the Monselice in Rosa Mtb, the mountain bike grand fund called the September “mundialito”!
